February Update
Wow. What a hectic six months it has been.
It feels strange to be writing an update of this size after a relatively small amount of time, but we honestly can’t believe just how much we’ve achieved since our original launch back in July, 2022.
As I write this post we’ve raised just over £24,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust. Let that sink in for a moment.
However, none of this would be possible without the amazing generosity of our followers and supporters. Since our website launch back in November the numbers have just kept going up and up. We cannot thank people enough, whether you’ve made donations, shared a post or simply liked what we’re doing – to see the collective results of our work is genuinely very humbling for us.
We had a number of exciting events before Christmas. Chris and his colleagues held a company quiz in London, Howden School hosted a Christmas music concert and Santa Run, we held our first community table top sale and we also made our debut at the Howden Christmas Market.
After a much needed break we’re ready to dive back in to 2023 and begin the next phase of our development. This year we plan to work even more closely with our kind friends of A Shining Light. This year we’ve already been joined by Tom Loves, The Spirit of Howden, Dixie’s Dog Spa & Bakery @ No. 7.
It’s our goal to see A Shining Light in the window of every shop and business in the area, so if you’re reading this and you want to get involved, drop us a message!
Event plans are also shaping up nicely. We’ll soon be planning dates for further community table top sales, we’re also looking to hold a bingo night and a summer football tournament. Chris, Jo & Cassie have already been busy arranging an amazing concert at the Shire Hall in July, you can read more about that here.
But most importantly, we want to keep shaping A Shining Light into a legacy that Luke would be proud of, into something that inspires those around us and has a genuine impact on our local community.
